SUMMIT LEARNING PROGRAM

Dear Centennial Families,

We are excited to announce that we will be implementing the Summit Learning Program beginning in the 2020-2021 school year in our 9th grade. Centennial Junior High, along with four other junior high schools, one high school, and one elementary school were selected and approved for implementation of this program in Davis School District. For those of you who are not familiar with Summit, it is the learning platform currently in use at Farmington High School and Farmington Elementary.

We have chosen this program for a variety of reasons including the following: greater student engagement, meaningful learning, and building positive relationships through the mentoring process.  This will also support our continued efforts in providing more innovative project-based assessments, effective opportunities for collaboration, and streamlining the standards-based learning system. We will be using this platform in our 9th grade core subjects (Math, Science, World Geography, and English) next year.

Our 9th grade teachers played an integral role in the research process of this learning system by visiting other schools and speaking with teachers who are currently using Summit.  Our team has been impressed by the tools this platform provides and the positive impact they can have on student learning.

We will continue to provide information and resources in the coming months. For general materials please see the links at the bottom of this page or our school website.

We intend to make administration available to answer individual questions, throughout the summer.

More information will be sent out about these opportunities.

Sincerely,

Centennial Junior High Administration
