This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week. We would love to thank everyone who has volunteered at our amazing school. Please stop into the office for a couple little thank you gifts. And remember you are appreciated more than you know!

STEM fun across the grades! 🎉
Our Kindergarten and 1st graders became sound scientists, exploring how vibrations travel by creating their own cup-and-string “phones.” 📞✨ They were amazed to hear how sound waves move!
Meanwhile, our 2nd and 3rd graders put forces and motion to the test with a lively game of straw soccer ⚽—using nothing but their breath to move cotton balls and score goals. Science in action!
Hands-on learning, lots of laughter, and curious minds at work all around! 💡

Step back in time at our 4th Grade Wax Museum 🇺🇸✨As part of the CKLA American Revolution unit, students brought history to life in the most incredible way! Our young historians from Mrs. Morrell's class transformed into iconic figures like John & Abigail Adams, George & Martha Washington, and even explored the story of Betsy Ross. Students who prepared reports shared their knowledge with visitors from across the school—teaching, inspiring, and impressing everyone who stopped by! History has never looked so alive ❤️🤍💙 #WaxMuseum #AmericanRevolution #StudentShowcase #LearningInAction #FutureLeaders

Mrs. NeVille's kindergartners have been reviewing the tricky words they've learned year. A unique way they practiced writing them was by using paintbrushes and water on the sidewalk out front of the school. We love seeing their learning happen in different ways. #TeamKindergarten #KingLions

Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Bateman's Kindergarten through 2nd grade ASC classes started a great project this week. They are learning about plants and their life cycle. Each student will be able to monitor and water their very own plants each day as they grow over the next few weeks. #LearningInAction

Special thanks to our wonderful Mrs. Olney for all her time and preparation for Literacy Night last month! 📚✨
Every student had the opportunity to take home a free book to help encourage a lifelong love of reading. Families and friends joined in the fun as students completed activities, played games, and celebrated learning together.
We also enjoyed a delicious dinner provided by the school and a dessert generously provided by our community sponsor, Black Bear Diner! 🐻💛
Thank you to everyone who helped make the night so special!

Our 2nd graders are bringing learning to life in creative ways!🫀🧠
Students in Mrs. Gonzalez and Miss Berrett’s classes recently wrapped up their CKLA Knowledge unit on the Human Body—and celebrated with a hands-on project they’ll never forget! They colored and crafted the organs they studied, then designed their very own “organ vests” to show where everything belongs.
From brains to hearts, these young learners are building knowledge and creativity at the same time. We love seeing learning come alive like this! 💙👏 #Team2ndGrade #KingLions

Wear blue this Friday, April 10, to support children!
Everyone plays a role in helping children have healthy and positive childhoods.

More amazing reading magic in action! 📚✨
Our first graders are on fire 🔥 — Mrs. Wright’s class is building strong partnerships and sharpening those decoding skills, just like Mrs. Jenkins’ class! So proud of these young readers growing every day 💙 #FirstGrade #classroommagic

Mrs. Jenkins’ 1st graders are readers on the rise! 📚✨
These young readers have been hard at work strengthening their skills through our CKLA program and building confidence in their reading fluency. The best part? They’re doing it together. 💛
By partnering up, students encourage one another, practice actively, and celebrate each other’s growth every step of the way. It’s amazing what teamwork (and a love for reading!) can do. 👏 #KingLions

🍀St. Patty’s Day fun + math magic in Mrs. Elliott's classroom!🍀
We turned snack time into a hands-on learning adventure with Lucky Charms sorting & graphing! 🌈🥣
Students sorted their marshmallows, created graphs, and became little data detectives—answering questions like:
📊 Which group had the MOST?
📉 Which had the LEAST?
➕ What happens when we combine groups?
Learning has never been this sweet (literally 😄)! So much engagement, critical thinking, and excitement all in one activity.

Ms. Bowser's 6th graders recently teamed up with Mrs. Wright's 1st graders for a Fun Friday combined art project. We love seeing creativity and partnership in action! #KingLions

Mrs. NeVille's kindergarteners have been practicing their tricky words. This time it was in the form of reading and writing the words by playing the headband game! #ActiveLearning #TeamKindergarten 📚✍️

Second grade in Miss Berrett's class has been busy learning and growing! 📚
Thanks to the generosity of some amazing donors, each student receives a book each month of the school year. Such a special gift that helps build a love of reading all year long. Miss Berrett is so grateful for her community that supports reading and makes this possible! ❤️
Students also participated in a fun counseling lesson where they played a game about using kind words and treating others with respect which are important skills for building a caring school community.
To wrap up their learning in their recent CKLA Knowledge Domain, students worked together to create posters highlighting important figures from the Civil War era, including Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, and Clara Barton. We loved seeing their teamwork and creativity as they shared what they learned!
Way to go, second grade! 👏

Our 4th graders recently went on an IMAX Theater field trip to learn about space and the Hubble Telescope. 🔭🪐

Ms. Merrill's 1st graders celebrated Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat day by wearing their favorite hats. 🧢

Here's a look into the happenings in Ms. Bowser's 6th grade classroom. Students created pottery projects during their BTS arts class with Mrs. Wood. 🏺
🎭They also acted out different Greek Myths as part of their CKLA unit they studied. We love seeing their creativity! #Team6thGrade

Mrs. Lower & Mrs. Price's 6th graders completed their last DARE lesson where they were able to try drunk goggles, Detective Lewis' SWAT vest, and be handcuffed. The last few weeks during this program students have been learning about the DARE decision making model and the effects of drugs and alcohol on their brains.
